Identification Systems, Customer Support

General Objective:
  • To provide database support for Identification Software Systems deployed around the world.
Responsibilities: Duties, and Tasks:
  • Recommend software and hardware upgrades as they relate to database functionality and performance.
  • Analyze and tune database performance.
  • Install and maintain databases in development, test, training and production environments.
  • Write and maintain database stored procedures, packages, triggers and views.
  • Write backup and recovery disaster plans and perform disaster recovery tests.
  • Provide troubleshooting for database related issues.
  • Provide telephone/email support to on-site support staff and end-users.
  • Provide on-call 7X24 emergency support on a rotational basis with other support staff.
  • Train onsite technical support staff.
  • Keep up to date with latest technology.
  • Installation and configuration of system components (hardware, software, database).
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in developing and administering database systems (specifically Oracle).
  • 3 years of experience with database systems in Linux or Unix environments.
  • 3 years experience in supporting database systems in the field.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining sound backup and recovery procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Good analytical and high quality documentation skills.
  • Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes.
  • Self motivated and action oriented team player.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability work off-hours on-call.
  • Strong communication skills in English (French and Spanish are assets).
  • Must qualify for or possess Canadian Government Secret level (assessed by CSIS).
