Location: 145 Richmond Road, Ottawa, Ontario

Position Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 6-month probation period


General Objective:

• To operate a Type printing press following health and safety regulations and company quality standards.

Responsibilities: Duties, and Tasks:

• Set up and adjust fountains, rollers, paper guides and feed controls
• Positions and installs cylinder packing, die and type forms in press, according to specification, using hand tools
• Monitors feeding and printing operations to maintain specified operating levels and detect malfunctions
• Directs and monitors activities or apprentices and support staff
• Reads work orders and job specifications to select ink and paper stock
• Maintains quality results by adhering to standards
• Records and maintains production log-sheet
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and legal regulations

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent education and experience
• Must have a minimum of 5 years operational experience as a multi-unit Press Operator
• Experience operating a Heidelberg press is an asset
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Motor coordination, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude to make necessary adjustments and to set up press
• Must have ability to work with numbers (add, subtract, multiply, divide, put numbers in sequence quickly and accurately)
• Computer skills
• Problem solving skills
• Able to follow oral and written directions
• Able to lift, up to 40 lbs without restrictions
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
• Must be able to work all shifts including evenings, nights and 12 hour shifts
• Must be able to work a reasonable amount of overtime
• Dependable and proven attendance record are a must
