Tier 3 Systems Management Technician

Job Summary:

To provide first line Technical Support for CBN Corporate and Manufacturing systems including Servers and Workstations.

NOTE: The selected candidate must possess Secret level security clearance.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

• Provide Systems Management support for CBN Servers and Networking infrastructure; primarily manufacturing systems.
• Provide 3rd level technical support and mentoring to Tier1 and Tier2
• Partake in equal share of After-Hours on-call support.
• Collect and document all issues, symptoms, testing performed, resolutions, etc for each support request
• Provide both informal/formal training to end-users and/or dept technical staff.
• Working in a proactive manner, ensure all servers and network infrastructure are: Stable, Secure, Capacity Managed, Recoverable in event of outage.
• Perform hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair as necessary.
• Perform software installations, upgrades and patches.
• Act as an advisor to Product/Project managers in the evolution of Business Systems.
• Evolve and the hardware/software systems to latest technologies in continual pursuit of efficiencies within systems management and end-user service experience.
• Act as technical lead in large systems implementation projects.
• Manage 3rd Party Vendors and Service Maintenance Contracts.
• Interact with Operational Directors in order to meet system support requirements and system upgrade initiatives.
• Become fully knowledgeable on the complete range of CBN Manufacturing products and services. Keep abreast of new developments and technology and understand how this applies to our existing customers.
• Initiate improvements to the department to help facilitate positioning for future opportunities and increase quality and effectiveness of service.
• Ensure service level compliance.
• Act as a point of escalation for stakeholder issues that are not appropriately addressed by operations teams

Qualifications:

• University Degree (minimum 3 year) in Computer Systems, Engineering or an equivalent combination of Education and relevant Experience.
• Solid knowledge and experience with Windows, Windows Server and Suse Linux.
• Experienced with Application/Web Servers (ie. Tomcat, IIS, Apache, etc).
• Experienced with one or more Database Platforms (ie. Oracle, Microsoft, MySQL .
• Knowledgeable in SQL command syntax.
• Familiar with usage and implementation of Security certificates, networking protocols.
• Experienced with Server Virtualization, preferably esxServer.
• Understands the importance and proven track record of operating within problem, change, capacity management and disaster recovery IT disciplines.
• Comfortable and understands importance of solid system documentation.
• Proven track record of demonstrating initiative, reliability, productivity and multitasking.
• Applicants must possess excellent communication skills.
• Successful candidates must possess a valid Canadian security clearance (secret).
