Doug Arends is Chairman of CBN and a transformative force behind the organization’s growth over nearly five decades. Since assuming leadership in 1976, he has guided CBN from its roots in security printing to a diversified global enterprise serving governments and institutions worldwide. Under his direction, the company expanded into advanced systems integration and built a portfolio spanning currency, identity, border management, excise, and lottery solutions.

His entrepreneurial leadership was instrumental in CBN’s breakthrough in the early 1990s contract with Ukraine, which established the company as a respected international bank note supplier. Doug is widely recognized for fostering a culture centred on innovation, diversification, and long‑term partnerships, positioning CBN as a trusted provider of secure products and technology-enabled solutions supporting critical national infrastructure.

Marilou Robinson, Chief Executive Officer

Marilou Robinson is the Chief Executive Officer of CBN, where she leads the company’s global portfolio of secure technology, currency, and identity solutions. A collaborative and principles‑driven leader, she champions clarity, accountability, and a people‑first culture across CBN’s diverse business lines. Marilou plays a central role in corporate strategy, long‑term planning, capital investments, and key enterprise decisions, and serves as a member of the CBN Board of Directors.

Marilou is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, an experience that strengthened her strategic perspective, leadership philosophy, and commitment to organizational excellence. She is continuously engaging customers and partners, working to enhance CBN’s products, services, and integrated solutions. Passionate about developing talent and enabling high performance, Marilou believes strongly in people’s ability to learn, grow, and deliver meaningful impact for CBN’s global customers.

Craig Bascombe, Executive Vice-Chairman

Craig Bascombe is the Executive Vice‑Chairman of CBN, where he plays a central role in shaping corporate strategy, guiding major investment decisions, and supporting the long‑term direction of the enterprise. Since joining CBN in 1994, he has held several senior leadership positions, including CEO, Chief Financial Officer, and President of the Lottery division, contributing to the company’s growth across multiple business lines.

Craig brings a distinctive blend of entrepreneurial vision, technical insight, and global business experience. His longstanding involvement in innovation includes founding Wann Connection Devices, a company specializing in point‑of‑sale and data communication technologies for major financial institutions.

A Chartered Accountant with a strong foundation in finance, technology, and operations, Craig is recognized for his disciplined approach, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to strengthening CBN’s global reputation and long‑term success.

Gord McKechnie, Executive President

Gord McKechnie, Executive President and Secretary of CBN, is an experienced legal and corporate governance leader who has shaped the company’s compliance and security posture for more than two decades. An Ontario‑trained lawyer, he began his career practicing criminal, corporate, and commercial law before joining CBN in 2001 as General Counsel. Gord built the company’s comprehensive legal and compliance framework and today holds senior executive responsibility for legal affairs, compliance oversight, security governance, and board support.

Since 2022, he has also served on CBN’s Board of Directors and contributes to strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions. Fluent in English and French, Gord is known for his principled leadership, sound judgment, and commitment to ensuring that CBN’s operations align with the highest standards of integrity and corporate responsibility.

Mark Houlton, Chief Executive Officer, CBN | DLR Identity Group

Mark Houlton is Chief Executive Officer of the CBN | DLR Identity Group, a joint venture between Canadian Bank Note Company (CBN) and De La Rue delivering secure identity and passport solutions to governments worldwide. In this role, Mark leads strategic direction and commercial growth while overseeing the execution of large‑scale national identity and travel document programs.

Previously, Mark served as Chief Commercial Officer at CBN, where he led commercial strategy across multiple business lines and supported enterprise‑level decision‑making and product investment. He brings a strong customer‑focused perspective, emphasizing trusted infrastructure, principled leadership, and accountability. Mark fosters a people‑first culture focused on long‑term success and delivering measurable public value for government partners.

Greg Maduk, Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Greg oversees financial planning and budgeting, pricing and estimating, capital investment evaluation, supplier management, and corporate insurance, and provides strategic oversight to Manufacturing Engineering and R&D. He brings a disciplined, analytical approach and strong cross‑functional perspective, helping teams align financial structure, operational data, and business priorities to enable clear decisions and effective execution. Before joining CBN, Greg worked at PwC and is a Chartered Accountant.

Dwight MacManus brings more than 30 years of experience advancing CBN’s secure identity solutions, including passports, visas, ID cards, certificates, and related systems deployed in more than 25 countries. His work has played a significant role in shaping how governments design and implement secure identity programs, and he continues to support the industry through active participation in international standards organizations focused on next‑generation passport and ID card standards.

As Chief Document Security Officer at CBN, Dwight applies his extensive technical expertise and global perspective to guide the development of secure documents and innovative solutions. He brings a practical, standards‑driven approach that helps teams balance security, interoperability, and long‑term sustainability, ensuring CBN’s products continue to meet evolving customer and regulatory needs worldwide.

Michael Besley, Vice President, Corporate Affairs

Based in Ottawa, Michael has been with CBN for more than 24 years, supporting the organization in a wide range of legal roles and serving as a corporate officer working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.

Michael’s team provides legal support across all areas of the business, including compliance, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, contracting, and privacy. He brings a practical, collaborative approach focused on understanding business needs and developing legal solutions that enable strong outcomes for CBN and its partners. His teams emphasize clear, fair agreements that support long‑term relationships built on trust. Michael is called to the Bar in Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the County of Carleton Law Association.

Kirk Arends, President, Lotteries

Kirk Arends is the President of Lottery and Gaming at CBN, where he leads a growth-focused portfolio spanning lottery, iGaming, charitable gaming, and gaming entertainment destinations. In this role, Kirk is accountable for CBN’s product strategy, operations, and technology platforms that support CBN’s lottery and gaming customers across multiple regions.

Since joining CBN in 2008, Kirk has played a key role in shaping the company’s Lottery and Gaming strategy in North America and Latin America. In 2021, he led the acquisition of BUMP Worldwide Inc., now the market leader in charitable gaming fundraising solutions for professional sports foundations and leading hospital and healthcare organizations. Under his leadership, CBN’s Lottery and Gaming division has delivered sustained growth, expanded partnerships, and funded meaningful causes, while continuing to provide secure, scalable, trusted, and engaging gaming experiences.

Doris leads CBN’s People & Culture portfolio, including labour and union relations, talent acquisition, compensation and rewards, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and workforce strategy. She works closely with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure people priorities align with business objectives and evolving organizational needs. Doris brings a balanced, people‑centred approach that supports leaders through complexity and change while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high‑performing workplace.
